Bed bugs are found near their food source andlike to hide in dark places during the day. You may be able to locate them inthe bed or near it. Blood Spots on Sheets from Bed Bugs

Ifyou find a brown or rusty to red colored spot on your bed sheets, blankets, oron the mattress, this is another sign of bed bugs. When a bed bug feeds, theirabdomens become engorged with blood. If crushed, bed bugs can pop leavingbehind red or rust colored spots. The reddish brown spot is actually bed bugdroppings. Bed bugs will leave their droppings near their feeding site or nearthe areas they hide during the day. If you are finding red, rusty or brownishspots on the sheets, blankets, or on the mattress, you are likely seeing signsof bed bug activity.

Bed Bug Sightings or Musty Smell

Bedbugs will often give off a nasty musty odor which they excrete through theirglands. This odor is believed to signal to other bed bugs where they are andhelp them locate reliable food sources. Along with this odor you may begin tofind or see bed bugs. When sighting and odors are present, the situation isoften worse.
